The YCC started life in 2008 as the Young Creative Council. We were a bunch of bright-eyed junior creatives looking to support people like us who felt the advertising industry was lacking in a visible support network to help us, and others, learn and grow after leaving university.
This led us to putting on countless events – from talks and bowling competitions to creative speed-dating events and portfolio nights.
We’ve lectured at pretty much every creative uni, and worked with agencies like Mother, R/GA and VCCP; businesses like Framestore, Adobe, Instagram and Google, as well as awards bodies like the IPA, D&AD, Creative Circle and NABS.
By day we work in ad agencies, by night we do this. The YCC is ever evolving, and while we’re no longer “young”, we still help junior talent of any age entering the industry.
Having been part of the YCC gang since 2009, there’s nothing I haven’t experienced, or organised.
Be it hosting 6 months of weekly Covid-eo Crits on Zoom during lockdown, many D&AD New Blood exhibition stands, Single Mingle events, lectures, workshops and even junior recruitment – I’ve done it all.
My work for the YCC saw me nominated for the IPA’s iList in 2022, and I also look after Ad Job Wall, Single Creatives, and the Placement Poverty Pledge.
My career has taken me across the country and to great agencies in Edinburgh, Leicester, London and Tunbridge Wells, creating work that’s won D&AD Pencils, Cannes Lions, and shiny things from the Creative Circle.
